Hello! It's Erin from House on Hill Road here. I love making over-sized quilt blocks. They are a great way to showcase a particular fabric, create great visual impact and get a quilt top completed in record time. This churn dash block is a classic and works well singularly as a pillow, but is equally as great for a larger project. Four blocks make a nice 36" square lap/baby quilt and nine blocks give you a good 54" throw. Keep going and put 16 together for a 72" larger picnic or beach quilt. You can always add sashing or borders to get the perfect bed sized quilt! Big blocks are so versatile. Here's how I put mine together. This tutorial makes one block.

Hey everyone! I’m Erin from House on Hill Road and I continue to enjoy making things using my GO! Qube. This month I am sharing a tutorial for an easy baby or lap quilt that finishes at 36” square. I’m using some pretty floral prints and a solid white for a soft look, but this quilt could be made using two bold solids or lots of different prints for a scrappy look. This quilt does finish small, but it can easily be bigger if you like. You’d just need to cut and sew more squares, keeping your finished measurements divisible by 6”.
