Create a Patriotic Quilt using GO! Qube or Storm at Sea Die

Hi, it's Bea - from Beaquilter.com!

Does this quilt look familiar? You may have seen it before in the July/August 2018 of Quiltmaker magazine. This was before AccuQuilt had the GO! Storm at Sea Die. So, I got creative to make this quilt.

I ended up making this using the GO! Qube Mix & Match 8" Block and the GO! Qube 8" Companion Set - Angles, but if you have the Storm at Sea die you can use that too!

The fabric I used was a line from Timeless Treasures. This cute quilt measures 56" x 68".

Qubes & Companions

To begin this project, I used Electric Quilt to make a sketch of the quilt.

To create the sashing of the block using the Qubes, you will need Shape #6 and #5 for the square on point corners.

Then, to make the longer diamond block, you need two of Shape #13 and four of  Shape #14. When cutting Shape #14, make sure you fan fold your fabric so you get both sides of the triangle.

For the main block, you only need Shapes #1, #3 and #4.

Now you can also make this with the GO! Storm at Sea die as well.

When using the Electric Quilt program, it will look like this... with the corner diamonds being white centers.

The longer diamond sashing block would be a solid fabric instead of being two triangles - which is ideal if you're using a directional print!storm at sea2

I have my quilts hanging above a desk in my house.

I am using it as a bulletin board now that I am homeschooling my 3rd grader!

Yeah, don't judge the mess. 😉 It's actually nice to just pin things on the quilt instead of push pinning the wall and creating a bunch of holes. A pin on the quilt doesn't tear or damage the quilt at all!

This is just a different way of using a quilt.
