10th of the 12 Blocks of the Week by Eleanor Burns
We’re 10 blocks into our 12-block series. This means, you already have a mini sampler quilt completed. Nice work! This week’s block is Depression. We’re sure the name comes from the Depression Era when people used and reused every scrap of material, including feed sacks, to make their quilts.
Eleanor’s Tips for the Depression Quilt Block
The Depression quilt block is a bit of a review. Just like they used to reuse material, we’re reusing techniques you’ve already learned. Like the square-in-a-square on point technique we learned from the Oh Susannah block and the flying geese we know from Dutchman’s Puzzle.
With this week’s Depression quilt block, we have 10 of 12. Here’s a re-cap of what we’ve learned so far: Double 4-Patch, Uneven 9-Patch, Clay’s Choice, Dutchman’s Puzzle, Simplicity, Trellis, School Girl’s Puzzle Number 2, Susannah and Old Maid’s Puzzle.
Binge Watching AccuQuilt’s Quilt Block of the Week on www.accuquilt.com or YouTube Means No FOMO
Maybe you’ve heard the terms binge watching and FOMO and wondered what they mean. Well, binge watching is simply watching all available episodes at once. It’s what you’ll do to catch up with our Block of the Week, if you’re just finding it. Don’t worry, you won’t have to spend hours in front of your computer on YouTube. Eleanor Burns makes it easy to learn each block and she takes less than 10 minutes per episode to show you how.
FOMO, like everything it seems today, is an acronym. It means the Fear of Missing Out. Which you won’t have if you get caught up today! Your kids and grandkids will get a kick out of you using these terms.
