Who doesn't love inspiration? The 2020 Island Batik Ambassadors were sent a couple of our Block on Boards® (BOBs) to use in their March project and boy, did they deliver! Let's take a break today and look at the beauty these quilters have created.
Carol's Corona Borealis
As Carol put it in her blog post, March was "an ebb and flow of emotions." Now we're on to April and still pushing on. Her Corona Borealis pattern uses the GO! Storm at Sea (55221) and clever color placement makes an almost mandala-like pattern. It's soothing and a perfect way to kick off this post filled with inspirational quilts.
Jennifer's Icy Crystal
Jennifer of Inquiring Quilter created a three-dimensional quilt pattern with the help of the GO! Glorified Nine Patch die (55557). Curves are easier than ever with AccuQuilt dies thanks to the little notches that help ensure proper placement. Jennifer got creative with her sashing using the foundation paper piecing technique.
Denise's Woven Beauty
Denise of For the Love of Geese used the GO! Chimney Sweep-10" Finished die (55222) to create woven-like blocks in light greens and purples. Neutral backgrounds and airy sashing give the blocks breathing room to really shine.
Sally's Wildflowers
Sally of Sally Manke planted a garden a colorful garden with the GO! Hattie's Choice-8" Finished die (55220) stepping in as petals and leaves. She also used a thread technique and metallic thread to make flower centers with texture.
Pamela's Two Hearts, One Love
Pamela of PamelaQuilts fulfilled a quilting goal by creating two gorgeous hearts using the GO! Storm at Sea (55221) and creative color placement. She and her husband are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this year so it was perfect time, too!
Megan's On Point Wonder
Megan of Best Quilter used the GO! Chimney Sweep-10" Finished die (55222) in bright colors and just enough neutrals for balance. With the BOB by her side, "everything stitched together SO easily."
Joanne's Geometric Chain
Joanne of UnicornHarts saw the potential of repetition for a good quilt pattern when she looked at the GO! Hattie's Choice-8" Finished die (55220). She used three pops of primary colors alongside the mustard, black, grey and white to add a modern spin.
Vasudha's Modern Vortex
Vasudha of Storied Quilts always has an incredible and original approach to quilt patterns and this one using the GO! Storm at Sea (55221) is no different. The Purple Vortex uses a neutral backdrop to make the illusion of curves from the Storm at Sea block really pop. Check out her post here.
Carolina's Purple Beauty
Carolina used the GO! Glorified Nine Patch die (55557) and Island Batik's Blackberry line. The piecing and color placement of this quilt is beautiful, but the detailed quilting is absolutely stunning. Take a look at the blog about making this quilt to see a close up video of her stitching.
Carla Sweeps Us Away
Carla of Creatin' in the Sticks welcomes warmth of Island Batik's Cascadia collection to the GO! Chimney Sweep-10" Finished die (55222). The variation of the gold and orange corner triangles on all blocks make for a beautiful connection in the pattern.
Connie's Modern Yet Traditional Spin
Connie of Kauffman Designs used the GO! Hattie's Choice-8" Finished die (55220) and made a starry pattern with an almost dimensional frame.
Leah's Scrappy Storm at Sea
If you think BOBs and scrappy don't go together, Leah Malasky of Quilted Delights, proves you wrong. Her GO! Storm at Sea (55221) follows the traditional block pattern and uses a myriad of colors and patterns without sacrificing any of the Storm at Sea's movement.
