Hi!  It's Jen from The Smitten Chicken. Are you still trying to find that perfect gift for your neighbor? Or your child's teacher? Well, look no further! Today, I am going to share a quick and easy gift that everyone will love!

Last Minute Oven Mitt Gift Supplies

The Perfect Last Minute Gift

Gather up your favorite supplies...and don't forget your GO! Oven Mitt Die.

For this project, I am using my favorite print from Holly Holiday by Riley Blake Designs. I personally think a little pink should be added to the holidays.

I am also using Confetti Cottons Charcoal as my binding. Don't forget your favorite thread! I always use Aurifil thread for all my quilting. And last, you need some Insul-Brite to construct this oven mitt!

Get Your Oven Mitt Gift Started

First, start by making a quilt sandwich that is about 10"x16". You need backing, Insul-Brite, cotton batting (I added it for a more quilty texture, but it's totally optional), and my top fabric.

I used my favorite basting spray, SpraynBond Basting Adhesive to baste my layers together. Don't forget to make TWO quilt sandwiches - one for the top of the oven mitt and one for the bottom.

Now it's time to quilt up this pretty quilt sandwich.  I marked straight lines with my Hera marker and started to quilt!

Once the quilt sandwiches are quilted, it's time to cut out the oven mitts.

Pro Tip:  Don't forget to cut one quilt sandwich right side up and one quilt sandwich right side towards the die. You need mirror images of the oven mitt!

Then, with the right sides together, stitch your oven mitt together - leaving the end open. Don't forget to use a 1/4" seam.

Once you are done stitching this together, it's time to flip it right side out!  The last thing you need to do is bind the end of the oven mitt.

Pro Tip:  AccuQuilt has an awesome tutorial on their YouTube channel that shows just how to bind this!
