To Pin or Not to Pin

I have never liked basting my quilts. I tried all kinds of methods from basting in a hoop to using a Q-Snap Frame (anyone remember those?) I went to Quilt-A-Fair in Colorado and saw a demo of a quilt being basted with curved safety pins. Man, was I impressed!

I bought a supply and put them away for my next basting project.

When I finished my next top, it was a queen size. I just dreaded the thought of basting it, until I remembered those safety pins.  I spread the quilt on the floor and started pinning. It had been so long since I saw the demo that I guess I didn't remember it quite correctly. It was back-breaking work and took me a really long time. I also pricked my fingers and had to blot blood off my quilt.

After a couple of hours, I was finally done. I stood back and looked at my perfectly pinned and basted quilt. Boy, was I proud.

That was until I tried to pick it up. I had basically pinned it to the carpeting! I won't tell you what I said next!
