To me, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. I love this time of year with the beautiful lights, gathering together with family & friends and the wonderful cool weather we experience here in the Phoenix! It is one of the few times in the year that we really need quilts to stay warm, so the timing is always perfect to break out my Christmas quilts. This month I designed a lovely Christmas Throw named “Christmas Wishes.” Now you may be thinking, it is a week before Christmas, how could I complete this quilt in time? Well the beauty of Christmas is that is comes every year. So now is the time to start planning for next year. This pattern would also work well in any color family, so you can make one for each season.
Quilts are known for giving warmth and comfort, but in one instance, at least, they helped save the lives of a whole village of people. Here is the story of seven brave men and the quilts that carried them over a mountain.
Eleanor Burns is back again with some great tips as we head into the holiday season! If you are one of those quilters who's afraid of the Flying Geese blocks, you won't be anymore. Eleanor shows you how quick and easy you can make the Dutchman's Puzzle, also known as the Louisiana block. Try it for your next project using the GO! Flying Geese-3" die!
The AccuQuilt Gallery welcomes Quilts of Valor, a showcase of eight quilts from the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Volunteer quilters get together to make quilts for veterans during sew-ins every first Wednesday of the month. The quilts will be on display through January 27.
