GO! Qube Boy Stars and Diamonds Quilt

Hi, I'm Bea from Beaquilter. I was so excited when I got my GO! Qube Mix & Match 8" Block, that I quickly started sketching in EQ7 for ideas.

This was the general block I started with, but I changed the way it goes together.

Then I turned it into this quilt.

If you are using the GO! Qube Mix & Match 8" Block like me, the quilt will finish 39" x 47" including the border. Here's the yardage you'll need for the 8" Qube (more if you want to add the border).

The colors are really 2 colors plus a neutral or a really light color:

Color A= DARK Blue 1/2yd

Color B= Medium Blue 1/2yd

Color C= Medium-light blue 1/4yd (focus fabric) + 1/2yd for border = 1/2yd

Color D= Neutral 3/4yd-1yd

Color E= Dark Green1/4yd

Color F = Light Green 1/4yd + 1/4yd for border and 1/2yd for binding = 1 yd

This can just as easily be made with ANY GO! Qube, so I'm giving directions by color and die number and amount to cut.

Using die #2 cut out 20 from fabric E, fabric F and 40 of fabric A

Using die #3 cut out 40 of fabric D

Using die #4 cut out 7 of fabric C, 31 of fabric B, and 31 of fabric D

Using die #5 cut out 40 of fabric A, 18 of fabric B, 2 of fabric C, 40 of fabric E and 40 of fabric F

Using die #6 cut out 6 of fabric C

Then I started sewing the blocks together. I LOVE how the GO! dies have the dog ears cut off on triangle pieces...it makes it so easy to match up the edges and sew together.

I made 6 of the large triple diamond blocks, 7 of the half blocks and 2 of the quarter-sized blocks as shown below.

Here I also made 6 star blocks, for each of the half star blocks that are opposite each other and two opposite quarter-sized blocks.

Then sewed it all together and added a 1" inner border and 2 1/2" outer border (cut 1 1/2" and 3")

Then quilt and bind (I used 5 WOF binding strips and cut them out with my 2 1/2" strip die).

This whole quilt went together in about two days (with interruptions from the kiddos!) It's super easy and FAST with the GO! Qube die set.
