Mar 9, 2016 9:00:00 AM / by Erin Harris

It’s Erin from House on Hill Road. I'm back today with the final two borders of the medallion quilt I started in January and added to in February. Again, I am using my 12” Qube dies and GO! Cutter for this entire quilt project.

To finish this project, you'll need:

GO! Cutter

GO! Qube Mix and Match 12'' Block

Fabrics for the quilt top as indicated

1/2 yard binding fabric

4 yards backing fabric

Cutting Border 4

1. Using the 6” square die, cut 8 white floral squares.

2. Using the 6” quarter triangle die, cut 16 orange print quarter triangles and 16 plaid triangles.

3. Using the 6” half square triangle die, cut 4 green half square triangles and 4 white half square triangles.

4. Using the 3’’x 6’’ rectangle die, cut 8 teal floral rectangles and 12 purple stripe rectangles

Sewing Border 4

1. Sew each plaid quarter triangle to a corresponding orange print quarter triangle to yield 16 pairs of quarter triangles. Press the seam towards the orange print. Sew each quarter triangle pair to another quarter triangle pair to yield 8 quarter square units. Press the seams to one side.

2. Sew each green triangle to one white triangle for a total of 4 half square triangle units. Press the seams towards the green.

3. Arrange the Border 4 top and bottom borders as indicated in the photo.

4. Sew the top and bottom border pieces together from left to right and press all seams towards the rectangles.

Sewing Border 5

1. Sew each green triangle to one white triangle for a total of 12 half square triangle units. Press the seams towards the green.

The quilt top should measure 57 1/2’’ square.

Finishing steps

1. Prepare a quilt back that is 66’’ square.

2. Baste the layers and quilt them together. I chose to quilt straight lines approximately 1/4’’ on each side of the border seam lines.

3. Bind the quilt in your preferred method.

4. Stand back and admire your beautiful quilt!
